To understand the complex biological and chemical mechanisms in the ocean good knowledge of the hydrographic processes is of fundamental importance. As the large scale processes can be modeled for a lot of cases, the small scale processes still have to be measured. The Investigation of the ruling processes is the key to a good understanding of larger effects. We use classical hydrographic measurement techniques like Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADPC), CTD, ADV and Micro Structure Probes to measure the basic parameters. The combination of these techniques in different setups enables the investigation of different processes. The instruments can be operated vessel mounted, towed or as vertical profilers. The wide range of possible setups leads to a very large spectrum of possible application. The hydrographic measurement technique is used in monitoring programs and for environmental studies as well as for technical surveys and basic scientific investigation.
