Laser Doppler Anemometry

The Laser Doppler Anemometry is a laser-based nonintrusive optical measuring system. It measures on, two or three components of the velocity vector at one point. As it measures the velocity of tracer-particles it’s data rate depends on the fluid velocity and the number density of the tracer particles. In high flow velocities the data rate can be quite high. LDA is used to achieve very precise data based on a very good statistic. This also results in very good information about the Reynolds-stresses and turbulence.
