Laser Induced Fluorescence

The Laser-Induced Fluorescence is a nonintrusive measuring system that is used to measure the concentration of a tracer. In water this tracer can be a fluorescent dye (e.g. Rhodamine). Like PIV a laser-light-sheet is used to illuminate the tracer. Depending on the dye, the fluorescent light can i.e. be proportional to the concentration or the temperature of the dye. Therewith the scalar can be measured within the illuminated measuring plane. In combination with PIV it is possible to measure turbulent fluxes, mixing or transport phenomena.
