Scour is one of the most challenging tasks in offshore technologies. Our expertise in analyzing and describing scour processes is based on very different projects. The interaction of the fluid with the bottom and the technical structure is the reason for scour around objects and also the question to answer. This problem can be solved by theoretical consideration with adapted sediment transport models, which have to be found by systematically operated experiments and simulation. The experiments are done in laboratory scale in water channels and wind tunnels and in real scale in the original environment. To get a prediction of scour around objects, numerical simulation with different simulation methods are done. The results of experiments and numerical simulation can be used to develop the adapted sediment transport model and to develop scour porotection solutions.
